McEnaney to come under pressure

by Oli Skehan , 21 August 2011

Seamus McEnaney will come under further pressure on Monday night to confirm his plans for 2012.

Meath have called a special county board meeting and McEnaney's position as boss is expected to be raised.

The Monaghan native, who took over from Eamonn O'Brien and in doing so became the first outsider to manage the county's senior side, has yet to confirm if he wants to remain as manager in the Royal County and was previously invited to address delegates at the September meeting.

In the immediate aftermath of his appointment, McEnaney said: "I certainly studied form before I decided to let my name go forward for this Meath job.

"I knew that this is a huge decision for the Meath county board, the clubs of Meath and the people of Meath to go outside to pick a manager."

Meath finally exited the All-Ireland SFC in the qualifiers in mid August - Kildare beating them 2-11 to 0-14 having done likewise, albeit by six points on that occasion, in Leinster on June 5 at GAA headquarters.
