Fermanagh and Carlow are looking at former inter-county stars to help as they look at deciding upon their next management teams.
The Fermanagh footballers had a 2011 to forget as many players fell out with manager John O’Neill and the club was ousted from the All-Ireland qualifiers by London of all teams.
Now, the Erne County have appointed ex-Armagh star Jarlath Burns to the panel which will review the position of the Silverbridge clubman.
County chairman Peter Carty and secretary Tom Boyle are also on the panel that will look to ascertain the best way forward for the county’s management team.
Carty was quoted by the Belfast Telegraph as saying: "The group will work as fast as it can but every avenue will be explored.
"This will include questioning of county board officers and team management."
Meanwhile, in Carlow, the Barrowsiders' county board is looking to bring a former inter-county star to their management backroom team.
Luke Dempsey, who led the side to a Leinster championship win over Louth in 2011, has completed his three-year term and it seems he, the players and the board themselves all want him to go again.
However, board chairman Michael Meaney admits that they would like to put someone else on the coaching team to add some fresh impetus as the Leinster minnows look to try and get closer to other teams.
"Luke has completed his three-year term and he's anxious to stay," Meaney told the Nationalist. "The players are anxious that he stay on, but to freshen things up we're looking at putting a bit of new blood into the management team.
"Luke has welcomed this and, in fairness, it's hard enough to get this kind of person because if they're into the game they're more interested in the manager's job.
“But it's not a new phenomenon, (Carlow hurling boss) Kevin Ryan has Paul Flynn on the same sort of basis, so we're talking about a former top inter-county player who would be coming in on a coaching basis rather than an assistant manager, someone who would have a proven track record."
