Diouf in talks with two clubs

by JP Lonergan , 26 September 2011

It was reported on Monday evening that former Blackburn Rovers forward El-Hadji Diouf has opened talks with Wigan Athletic and Doncaster Rovers.

Diouf has been a free agent since being given the boot by Blackburn in the summer. He had not played for Rovers since last January, when he was allowed to move up to Scotland and play for Rangers on loan.

It has now been reported by Sky Sports News that Rovers’ local Premier League rivals Wigan have been in discussions with the Senegalese player, as they look to strengthen a side that has lost four in a row in all competitions.

And Doncaster Rovers, bottom of the Championship but on the back of their first win of the season – over Crystal Palace – on Saturday, have also been reported as talking to Diouf, as their brand new manager Dean Saunders looks to make some changes to a team that has been out of form for pretty much the whole of 2011.

And it is Doncaster, rather than Premier League Wigan, who are believed to be the favourites to bring in Diouf, who could even go into their squad for their derby game with Hull City at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday.
