Allardyce wants 'top-class' Tevez

by Setanta Staff , 02 October 2011

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has admitted that he would like to take Manchester City star Carlos Tevez back to Upton Park on loan.

It was reported that City snubbed the Hammers' initial attempts to take the Argentinian striker, who saved the Londoners from relegation in his first spell at the club in 2007, when he was suspended by the club for allegedly refusing to go on as a substitute in the Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

However, that does not appear to have deterred Allardyce, who revealed after his side's 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace in the Championship on Saturday that he would relish the opportunity to work with Tevez.

He said: "If he would like to join us and the chairman would like to pay for him then yes, why wouldn't you want a top-class player like that?"

He added: "I've worked with some world-class players in my time, they win you games when you least expect it. With a goal record like his why wouldn't you want him?

"I've had worse than him.

"I've had some bad ones in my time.

"Just keep playing him, that's the answer."
