Celtic beaten at Tynecastle

by Setanta Staff , 02 October 2011

Celtic remain eight points behind Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers after losing 2-0 at Hearts on Sunday.

Rudi Skacel and Ryan Stevenson netted for the hosts at Tynecastle during a second half that including a sending off for Celtic’s Kris Commons, keeping the Bhoys in third place behind Motherwell.

Hearts edged the first period, with Marius Zaliukas hitting a post, though the visitors' Mohamed Bangura headed poorly when presented with a good chance.

Celtic enjoyed the better of the early stages of the second half, but Hearts grabbed the lead  when Jamie Hamill's corss was met by David Templeton, who gave Skacel the chance to smash home a fine finish.

Commons' dangerous and late challenge on Adrian Mrowiec saw the Celtic man sent off, before Templeton's improvised pass from the byline allowed Stevenson to calmly set himself and net Hearts' second goal.

In the remaining 10 minutes, Celtic pushed but failed to beat Hearts' strong defence.
