Juve warned of Tevez 'disaster'

by Setanta Staff , 14 October 2011 football news

Juventus' former general director Luciano Moggi reckons signing Carlos Tevez would be a "disaster" for the Serie A club.

The Turin outfit have been linked with a move for the Manchester City striker, who awaits a club disciplinary hearing for breach of contract after allegedly refusing to go on as a substitute in their Champions League game with Bayern Munich.

Reports had suggested Juventus were planning on making a move to lure the controversial Argentinian forward in January to boost their squad in their Serie A title aspirations.

Moggi, who during his time at the club helped sign a few divisive players, claims a move for the 27-year-old would be ill-advised and to the detriment of Juve.

He wrote in his column for Tuttomercatoweb: "Buying a dressing room breaker like Carlos Tevez in January would be the biggest disaster ever that could hit Juventus who are in the process of rebuilding."

The former general director was scathing of his overall assessment of Antonio Conte's squad, stating there is "not enough" quality to challenge the likes of AC Milan, Inter and Napoli for the Serie A title.
