Michael Ryan has hailed Tony Browne after the veteran Waterford defender committed to yet another year with the Desie hurlers.
Browne, 38, is back readying his fitness for a 20th year in Waterford colours and Ryan, who has taken over from Davy Fitzgerald ahead of the 2012 season, says the long-serving Mount Sion defender is well up to the task of another year at the sport’s top table.
"The remarkable Browne is already back in training and is working on his fitness," Ryan was quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.
"Tony is a guy that has really looked after himself over the year and of course he lives and sleeps hurling.
“He attended the first players' meeting since I took over, and he is in the gym already sharpening himself up. I really think we are going to hear a lot more about the remarkable Tony Browne - a true hurling genius if ever there was one, and as dedicated to the cause of Waterford hurling as he has ever been."
