Pep denies Villa exit

by Setanta Staff , 14 December 2011 football news

Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has insisted he has no intention of selling striker David Villa in the January transfer window.

The Spain international has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp, after finding himself on the bench in recent games for the Champions League and La Liga title holders.

Villa has an impressive record for the club having scored 32 goals in 75 appearances but he is still struggling to nail down a regular starting role in the side this season.

A host of teams from across Europe would be interested in the player's services but Guardiola has rubbished rumours the 30-year-old is to leave Barca.

He said: "I have not spoken to David after the last match in Madrid, but all of the players are in my plans.

"I am the one who comes up with 25 different line-ups during the season because I feel that is the best thing to do.

"Most of the players that are here now will continue for the rest of this season and the next."
