Antrim’s CJ McGourty is set for several months on the sidelines with a leg injury.
The St. Gall's man lined out for UUJ in their Dr McKenna Cup defeat to Derry on Saturday, only to sustain a fractured fibular bone above his left ankle.
He is now set to miss his side’s entire Allianz National Football League campaign, with any championship involvement also in jeopardy.
"It's very bad luck on CJ, really sickening for him,” Jordanstown manager Adrian McGuckin was quoted as saying by hoganstand.com.
“For us it's a terrible blow and there was no contact before it happened. He seemed to twist and go down. There wasn't any challenge or anything.
“Maybe his boot stuck in the ground. Sadly, that is how the majority of breaks like that happen, a simple thing like turning.
“It's very, very disappointing for CJ.”
