MacDonald could make loan move

by Setanta Staff , 26 January 2012 MacDonald could make loan move

Burnley boss Eddie Howe has suggested that a loan move could be on the cards for forward Alex MacDonald before the end of the transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who previously spent time on loan north of the border with Falkirk and Inverness, has made seven of his 15 career appearances for the Clarets this term, although he is yet to start a senior game for the Turf Moor outfit.

Nevertheless, Howe likes what he sees in MacDonald and believes the player is ready for the next stage of his development.

"Alex has done very well for us, he has a great attitude so the next stage of his career would be to go out and play games," Howe told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"We would have to make sure we don't leave the squad light on numbers, but we want all our young players who need games to go out and play football. Hopefully he would rise to the challenge."

According to some reports, one possible destination for MacDonald is Rochdale, whose new manager John Coleman was an admirer of the youngster's talents during his time at Accrington.
