Wolves braced for Doyle bid

by Setanta Staff , 30 January 2012 Wolves braced for striker bid

Wolves could be facing a fight to keep hold of Kevin Doyle as Everton are keeping tabs on the striker ahead of the deadline.

Doyle is said to be unhappy at Molineux after falling out of the Wolves first team and Everton could be ready to take him to Goodison Park in a deal worth £6.5million.

Much will depend on Everton's attempts to land Nikica Jelavic from Rangers and if they fail to land the striker then David Moyes could turn his attentions to Doyle.

Moyes has funds after selling Diniyar Bilyaletdinov for £5million and he could use it to try and seal a deal for Doyle, who will be cheaper than Jelavic who is valued at £8million.

As is the case with Jelavic no offer has been made for the Republic of Ireland striker but that could change over the next 24 hours as the transfer deadline fast approaches.

Wolves are lining up Newcastle striker Leon Best on loan should Doyle go but Mick McCarthy will be desperate to keep hold of the 28-year-old frontman.
