Binocular camp look for alternative

by Michelle Fortune , 03 February 2012

Connections of Binocular have a 'few options' but it is not clear where he will run next after the abandonment of Saturday's card at Sandown.

The 2010 Champion Hurdle winner was an intended runner in the Contenders Hurdle at the Esher venue, but heavy frost has resulted in the card being abandoned leaving connections looking for an alternative target.

Nicky Henderson is eager to give his charge another run before the Stan James Champion Hurdle and he will sit down with owner JP McManus before deciding where to send the eight-year-old.

"As it stands at the moment, I don't know where he'll run," said owner JP McManus' racing manager Frank Berry.

"We're going to have to wait and see what happens with the weather. We have a few options, but we can't say for definite which way he's going yet.

"The weather is going to be important, so we'll see which way it goes."

The Red Mills Hurdle at Gowran Park in Ireland, the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton and the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso are races that could interest the trio.
