Robinson vows to end drought

by Setanta Staff , 05 February 2012

Scotland boss Andy Robinson has promised to put right his side's inability to score tries after the 13-6 defeat to England.

The Scots held the upper hand at 6-3 at half-time after two Dan Parks penalties but it was the fly-half's error shortly after the restart that handed England the lead.

Parks' clearing kick was charged down by opposite number Charlie Hodgson to gift England the lead while debutant Owen Farrell kicked eight points to ensure Stuart Lancaster started off his reign with a win.

Scotland dominated for long periods of the match and did have their chances to score but their failure to cross the line proved costly again.

"We created enough chances, but we're not taking those chances," Robinson told BBC Scotland.

"That's the nature of the sport, we've got to be able to deal with it.

"It's important that we stay together. Everybody is very frustrated by the loss.

"After half-time we had a poor bit of play and we gave England the lead. They got their heads up and they managed to win the game."

Scotland now face a tough trip to put things right when they travel to Cardiff to take on World Cup semi-finalists Wales next Sunday.
