Toon wait on injured duo

Alan Pardew says Ryan Taylor has not broken his ankle, while Leon Best should be back in action sooner rather than later.

It was feared that Taylor had suffered serious injury in the lead up to Newcastle's opening goal which resulted in him being stretchered off and taken to hospital.

Thankfully the injury is not serious although Pardew is not sure how long the defender will be out for.

"Ryan has had an X-ray and there's no breaks there, but a big swelling on his ankle," Pardew revealed. "So we're hoping he's okay because he's had a fantastic season for us, he really has."

Meanwhile, Best had to be replaced by eventual matchwinner Papiss Cisse but again Pardew is hopeful.

"I think he is okay," he added. "He has hurt his medial ligament but we're hoping he is going to be okay."
