'Management problems' prompt tour cancellation

by Setanta Staff , 08 February 2012 'Management problems' prompt tour cancellation

The future of Blackburn boss Steve Kean is in doubt once more after a planned visit of the Indian national team was cancelled.

Blackburn's owners, the India based Venky's group, are keen to establish links between the Premier League club and the game in their homeland.

Rovers travelled to India last October to train and play a friendly, the first Premier League team to do so, and a return trip to Lancashire was planned this month.

However, the trip has now been cancelled and the India side will train in Dubai instead.

With Rovers second from bottom of the table and heavily beaten 7-1 at Arsenal at the weekend the future of boss Steve Kean has again been brought into question.

Venky's have been fiercely loyal to the Scot so far this season, despite sustained protest from the supporters.

But the reasons behind the tour cancellation - cited as "management problems"- suggest that stance may change.

"Blackburn have told us that this is not the right time to visit the club," said All India Football Federation general secretary Kushal Das.

"They are going through some management problems at the moment."
