Kompany's big ambitions

by Setanta Staff , 09 February 2012 Kompany's big ambitions

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has revealed his ambition to see the club make history by winning five titles in a row.

Kompany hasn't even yet lifted one Premier League trophy but already the defender is talking up City's potential to surpass the achievement of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Huddersfield Town.

Those four clubs all won three successive top-flight titles to write themselves into the history books, but Kompany truly believes the name of his team could soon be alongside them.

Roberto Mancini's men are the red hot favourites this season finish on top of the pile, having led the way at the top of the table since October 15th.

If they can stay there come the end of the campaign, it would represent the club's first championship since 1968, but one crown wouldn't be enough for the Belgian international.

He told The Daily Express: "I can't take satisfaction out of winning only one title. With the team and the potential we have at this club, I'd like to see us winning four or five titles in succession - being relentless, in fact."

Kompany meanwhile is back in contention for Sunday's trip to Aston Villa after recovering from the knee injury that kept him out of his side's win over Fulham last weekend.

In all, the 25-year-old has missed five of City's last matches as he also had to serve a four-match ban following his dismissal against Manchester United last month.
