Synchronised out of Hennessy

by Michelle Fortune , 09 February 2012

Synchronised has joined the growing list of horses to be ruled out of Sunday's Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown.

Jessies Dream and Quito De La Roque were both ruled out of the Grade One on Wednesday and the race has taken another hit with the news that Synchronised will not travel to Ireland.

Jonjo O'Neill had warned earlier in the week that time was running out for him to get Synchronised ready for the race but he had remained hopeful he would be able to take his chance.

However, the Jackdaws Castle handler was not happy with the Lexus Chase winner on Thursday and after consulting with owner JP McManus he has decided not to declare him on Friday.

"Jonjo wasn't happy with Synchronised this morning, so the horse won't be travelling to Leopardstown," McManus' racing manager Frank Berry explained.

"We will have to wait a bit longer before he runs again and there are no plans for him yet."

While Jessies Dream could miss the rest of the season after failing to please Gordon Elliott in his latest piece of work, a dirty scope put paid to Quito De La Roque's participation.

"He definitely won't run, he scoped badly. It's just a little hiccup really, we weren't 100 per cent happy with him when he was ridden this afternoon, so we had him scoped to see what the problem was and he has a bit of mucus in him," trainer Colm Murphy reported on Wednesday evening.

Bostons Angel, China Rock, Follow The Plan, Magnanimity, Quel Espirit, Roberto Goldback and Treacle remain in the three-mile showpiece ahead of Friday's declarations.
