Mancini aims to halt away day blues

by Setanta Staff , 10 February 2012

Roberto Mancini believes Manchester City's problems away from home could come to an end at Aston Villa on Sunday.

While City have won every home match they have played in the Premier League thus far, their away form in the last three months has been patchy.

Mancini's men have managed just one win in the last six away from the Etihad Stadium, an unconvincing 1-0 victory over Wigan last month.

Sunday's match will see the Premier League leaders travel to the midlands to take on Aston Villa in a game they may have to win to retain their spot at the top of the table.

Manchester United could leapfrog City if they can beat Liverpool at home on Saturday, heaping the pressure on Mancini's men.

The Italian is confident City will put an end to their away day problems soon and claims the games they have lost on the road recently they didn't deserve to.

"We knew it was impossible to score three goals in every away game," he told Sky Sports. "Sometimes you can lose these games.

"But we didn't deserve to lose any of these games. At Sunderland we had 70 percent possession and lost to an offside goal in injury time.

"At Everton we had 70 percent of the ball and had all the shots. At Chelsea it was the same."
