Reid hails Andrews arrival

by Setanta Staff , 10 February 2012

Steven Reid has described new arrival Keith Andrews as 'a brilliant lad' who will be 'reliable and solid' for West Brom.

The former Republic of Ireland international was delighted when Albion boss Roy Hodgson swooped to snap up Andrews from Premier League strugglers Blackburn, where he had fallen out of favour with boss Steve Kean and spent the first half of the season on loan at Ipswich Town.

Reid is surprised that Andrews was not given a fair crack of the whip at Rovers, but feels their loss is definitely Albion's gain as he could line up alongside him in the side at Wolves on Sunday in a massive Black Country derby showdown.

On Andrews' attributes, Reid told the Birmingham Mail: "He did well when he first came to Blackburn, and he showed during his loan at Ipswich that he's got an eye for goal. He's a good signing for us.

"But it's other qualities too that make him stand out.

"He's a good passer of the ball, makes good runs from box to box and one of the best attributes he has is that he's a leader.

"He's vocal on the pitch and he's someone who is respected by other players.

"He makes demands of you on the pitch and he can only be good for us."
