Warburton fit to lead Wales

by Setanta Staff , 10 February 2012

Sam Warburton has recovered from a dead leg sustained in last week's win over Ireland and will lead Wales against Scotland on Sunday.

The 23-year-old will be joined by fit-again prop Gethin Jenkins, who returns from a knee injury, for the RBS 6 Nations game at the Millennium Stadium.

Jenkins replaces Rhys Gill in the side, though the Welsh will be without Bradley Davies who has been banned for seven weeks following his tip-tackle on Donncha Ryan in the win in Dublin last Sunday.

Warburton's return is a relief to coach Warren Gatland as the skipper's replacement in that match, Justin Tipuric, has an ankle injury.

Wales will also be boosted by the return from injury of forward Dan Lydiate, who missed the game at the Aviva Stadium.

He will start in the back row, with Ryan Jones moving to lock on his 60th appearance for his country.

Young wing Alex Cuthbert has been selected to start, after making his debut last week, meaning James Hook will again be on the bench from which Lou Reed will be looking to make his debut after being named amongst the replacements.

Wales: Leigh Halfpenny; Alex Cuthbert, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, George North; Rhys Priestland, Mike Phillips, Gethin Jenkins, Huw Bennett, Adam Jones; Ryan Jones, Ian Evans; Dan Lydiate, Sam Warburton (capt), Toby Faletau.

Replacements: Ken Owens, Paul James, Lou Reed, Andy Powell, Lloyd Williams, James Hook, Scott Williams.
