A round-up of what happened over the weekend in Allianz Football League Divisions Three and Four.
Longford made it two wins from two in Allianz Division Three on Saturday evening. The Midlanders beat neighbours Cavan by 0-10 to 0-7, with the defeat proving to be the Breffni’s second as their disappointing start to the new season goes on.
On Sunday, Roscommon defeated Offaly by 0-12 to 1-6 to also have maximum points after two games on the back of promotion. Antrim having a one hundred percent record too, after a 1-13 to 0-13 win in Tipperary.
Adrian Marren, meanwhile, scored two first half goals as Sligo bagged their first win of the campaign, though they had to withstand a late Wexford rally. The Connacht men eventually won out by 2-14 to 1-17.
Saturday evening saw the usual Division Four mauling of Kilkenny as neighbours Waterford defeated them by 0-21 to 0-2. The following afternoon Ian Ryan hit 1-6 as Limerick defeated London by 1-13 to 1-7 at the Gaelic Grounds in what – after last week’s postponement against Fermanagh – was the Exiles’ first game of the season.
The Erne men fared better than London after last week's cancellation, beating Clare by 0-11 to 0-8 at Brewster Park on Sunday. Finally, Leitrim bounced back from their first day defeat to Limerick, James Glancy’s late penalty seeing them sink Carlow by 2-9 to 0-13. Wicklow had a bye this week.
