Lomu in need of another transplant

by JP Lonergan , 12 February 2012

New Zealand legend Jonah Lomu has revealed that he will need a second kidney transplant.

The former All Blacks wing, 36, who bagged 37 tries in 63 caps for the Kiwis, had a successful kidney transplant eight years ago.

However, during last year’s World Cup, just the second won by the All Blacks, he was hospitalised with problems that were believed to be related to his kidney and his condition has not been good since as he has lost 30kg in weight.

With his new kidney having failed, he has been undergoing dialysis three times per week for 21 hours since last September

"We were hoping to see some improvement but nothing has made any difference, so the next step is to try to find a donor," Lomu told New Zealand Woman's Weekly.
