Tevez set to end Etihad exile

by JP Lonergan , 12 February 2012

Carlos Tevez is set to make an amazing return to Manchester City this week.

The Argentine, who has not played for City since September and has been in his homeland since November, has claimed he is willing to play for the club again, despite staying away since they found him guilty of refusing to come off the bench in the 2-0 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.

It is uncertain what condition the former Manchester United striker, who has lost out on over £9 million on wages after going AWOL, will be in on his return. However, reports have recently been rife that City boss Roberto Mancini could yet give him another chance.

After mooted January moves to AC Milan, Inter Milan, Paris St Germain – and even a loan deal to old club West Ham United – all failed to materialise, Tevez has been named in City’s post transfer-window Premier League squad.

However, Mancini was coy when asked about the situation after Sunday’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

"My reaction is always the same," Mancini told Sky Sports after the Villa Park win returned his side to the top of the Premier League.

"Carlos knows the situation, we are here and it depends on him. Carlos knows the situation from September, we don't have any problem.

"Yes, it's possible (an apology from Tevez). I think for now we should be happy for this game.

"For Carlos' situation, we know what can happen, Carlos knows what can happen and we are here and Carlos knows everything

"Carlos is a Manchester City  player. We are in Manchester, we are always there.

"We have not changed in these three months, we are there."
