Ba happy to stay put

by Setanta Staff , 14 February 2012 Ba happy to stay put

Newcastle United star Demba Ba feels he is playing in the best league in the world and wants to win silverware at St James' Park.

The 26-year-old penned a three-year deal on Tyneside last summer and has become an instant hit with the Toon Army, scoring 16 Premier League goals from 21 appearances as Newcastle have exceeded all expectations to sit in sixth place in the standings and in with a chance of playing European football next season.

Ba has just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and will be a major player for the north east outfit over the remainder of this season and in the future, while his partnership alongside compatriot Papiss Demba Cisse has already got the Newcastle faithful buzzing.

With the way that both Newcastle and Ba have played this term, the bigger clubs will inevitably come sniffing at some stage, but the French-born star insists his future lies with the Magpies as they look for honours.

"I am already in the best league in the world with all the big teams there is," he said. "I'm very focused on this end of season, we want to achieve something and I would like to see it happen."
