Fulham winning Fyvie race

Fulham look set to beat Norwich in the race to sign teenage midfielder Fraser Fyvie from Aberdeen in the summer.

The 19-year-old local-born starlet has told Aberdeen manager Craig Brown he has no intention of signing a new contract at Pittodrie when his current deal expires at the end of the year.

Fyvie told the Daily Record: "I need to go to progress my career. I feel it's the right time for me to try my luck elsewhere and see what happens. "

I may be taking a big gamble but sometimes you have to take a risk.

I feel I want to go and challenge myself."

The Scottish Premier League club are facing the prospect of being forced to sell a player they want to keep or receive only a compensation fee when he leaves under freedom of contract.

Brown put a £5million price-tag on the player in February and warned the teenager that other youngsters who left Pittodrie early in their careers have failed to fulfil their potential.

Fulham, who also recently signed Aberdeen defender Jack Grimmer for £200,000, were close to a deal for Fyvie last year but were only prepared to pay £1million and the deal fell through.
