Tigers defender Turns his back on external interest

by Joseph Caron Dawe , 26 May 2009

Hull defender Michael Turner has turned his back on speculation linking him with a summer switch to Liverpool, stating his loyalty to Phil Brown’s outfit.

The 25-year-old’s form for The Tigers in their debut season in the top flight has seen praise heaped on Turner, with some of his team-mates even calling for England honours for their colleague.

The former Brentford centre-back’s achievement in helping Hull secure their Premier League status has merely served to enhance his reputation, with Liverpool having been touted as potential suitors.

However, Turner is more than happy at The KC Stadium having recently penned a long-term deal and has no intention of leaving before that contract has run its course.

"Earlier in the season I signed a four-year deal and that says it all," said Turner.

"I've been desperate for this club to stay up and having done that it's a great achievement.

"This club wants to really push on from here and become an established Premier League side and I want to be part of that."
