Zokora says “si” to Sevilla - reports

by Laurent Picard , 17 June 2009

Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora is on the brink of joining Sevilla, according to the Andalucian press.

Spanish side Sevilla, who finished third in the league last season, have publically expressed their interest in the Ivory Coast international, and local newspaper Estadio Deportivo claim that an agreement has been reached regarding his transfer to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

An official announcement could be made in the next few days according to the Spanish media, who understands Zokora has agreed to put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal.

The versatile player, who grew up a centre back, could earn up to £1 million in wages per season according to reports, while no other player would be included in the deal.

Sevilla are trying to reach an agreement with Spurs regarding the African’s transfer, just days after the Londoners agreed to pay the Spanish club compensation after luring Juande Ramos away from Andalucia while he was still under contract.

Birmingham have also emerged as an option for Zokora, should he prefer to stay in The Premier League, rather than start afresh in Spain.
