Manchester City have firmly denied Spanish media reports that Robinho could be joining European champions Barcelona.
The Brazil international, who joined City in a British record £32 million move last August, has been linked with an unlikely loan move to Camp Nou as part of a deal to bring Barca striker Samuel Eto’o to Eastlands.
But City are unhappy with suggestions that they could allow Robinho to leave the club and chief executive Garry Cook has attempted to quell speculation surrounding his star acquisition.
“The story is completely without foundation,” Cook told the club’s official website.
“Robinho has always been a highly valued member of our team and that continues to be the case.
“Reports suggesting he will leave the football club, either on loan or on a permanent deal, are absolutely untrue.”
Robinho scored 14 goals in 31 Premier League games for City last season although courted controversy when going AWOL from the club in January.
