England Under-21s are through to the semi finals of the European Championships in Sweden following a 1-1 draw with Germany on Monday evening.
Stuart Pearce’s side, which incorporated ten changes to the side which beat Spain, fell behind after just four minutes in Halmstad when Gonzalo Castro latched onto Jerome Boateng’s through ball and slotted past Scott Loach.
However, Pearce’s Young Lions responded well and were on top for the remainer of the half.
Jack Rodwell headed England level just before the half-hour mark when he rose to meet a corner, and the draw was enough for England to finish top of Group B, with Germany second.
The result meant that Spain’s 2-0 win over Finland was in vain, as they finished outside the top-two qualifying spots.
Goals from Marc Torrejon and Pedro Leon saw Spain finish on a high, but ultimately fall short.
