Drogba and Eto'o form Mourinho dream team

by Tom Kell , 22 June 2009

Didier Drogba says that it is former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s dream to pair him and Samuel Eto’o together.

Drogba and Mourinho have maintained close relations ever since the Ivory Coast striker arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2004 and have persistently been rumoured to be planning a reunion at Inter.

Drogba has always remained publicly committed to remaining at Stamford Bridge but appears well aware of the Portuguese's interest.

“Mourinho told me that I would form a nice partnership with Eto'o,” he said. “His dream is to see us play together.

"He is a person with whom I worked well..

"I still have a year contract with Chelsea and I want to honour. But even when I was at Marseille, I was expecting to stay a long time and then I went. Many things can happen, it does not only depend on me.

"I said in September 2008 that Chelsea was my club and that I felt very good. There is no reason to speculate on a possible departure.”

Drogba was predictably tight-lipped when questioned about the four-match European suspension he received last week following his post-match shenanigans against Barcelona last season.

He added: "In Africa I refuse to discuss such issues. I am available for all journalists but I have nothing to say. "
