Gibson keen on United stay

by Alex Livie , 22 June 2009

Darron Gibson is hopeful of celebrating a new contract with Manchester United by the end of the month.

The midfielder is heading into the final year of his contract and having failed to nail down a regular start at Old Trafford, his future is in doubt.

Gibson has been linked with a move to Everton and he claims to be aware of interest from elsewhere, but is positive he has a future under Sir Alex Ferguson.

”My contract is coming to an end so, hopefully, at the end of the month I’ll be signing a new one," Gibson told The Telegraph.

”My current deal ends at the end of next season but, normally, a player would enter into contract talks at the end of this month.

”I’ve been told that a few clubs had expressed interest in signing me, but I want to give it a good push and have a proper go at it next season before I decide to go anywhere else.”
