Inter admit Ibra and Maicon futures are 50/50

by Robin Hackett , 22 June 2009

Inter president Massimo Moratti believes there is a 50 percent chance that the club will hold onto Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Maicon for next season.

Real Madrid have been strong linked with the duo, who are reported to be considering their futures in Italy, while Chelsea and Barcelona are also thought to be in the running for Ibrahimovic.

And while Moratti says he would like them to stay, he admits it may be for the best to cash in.

“I would say there is a 50 percent chance of them staying at Inter,” he told Il Giornale.

"From a fan’s perspective, I want them to stay.

“As the club president, who has a budget to keep an eye on, I think that if they want to go, they can go.

“Keeping them in that case would be counter-productive.”

However, Ibrahimovic’s agent, Mino Raiola, feels the player will stay.

“It is not true that he expressed a desire to leave,” he told Radio Radio.

“All he said was that he would not stay at the club for life – he never said that he wants to move.

“He has been completely honest.

“If he had decided to leave Inter, he would have be on his way and the president, Moratti, would have said.”
