Geremi’s agent has exclusively confirmed to setanta.com that the Newcastle midfielder is attracting strong interest from Turkish giants Besiktas.
The Turkish press went strong with reports of a move for the Cameroonian on Monday, and Barry Silkman confirmed the interest is substantial.
Geremi has made just eight league starts for Newcastle this season and Silkman admits the time may have come for the 30-year-old to move...if The Magpies don’t want him.
However, as of now Silkman confirmed there has been no formal offer from abroad – leaving the ball firmly in the court of Geremi’s pursuers.
“I’ve had phone calls from Turkey and that’s as far as it’s gone,” Silkman told setanta.com.
“I’ve had several calls, but as of yet nothing has been followed up. At this moment it’s a bit of a moot point because there’s no offer as such.
“All we’ve had is ‘would he be interested?’ or ‘what’s his salary?’ and ‘what would be his transfer fee?’
“Ideally he would want to stay in England but if the right move came up and Newcastle want to get rid of him – he’ll go.”
