Andy Robinson has been confirmed as the new head coach of the Scotland rugby team.
The former England boss has signed a three-year contract and has been handed the tasked of trying to revive Scotland's fortunes following three disappointing RBS 6 Nations campaigns.
"I'm delighted and honoured to be appointed head coach of Scotland," Robinson told a press conference.
"I've worked in Scotland now for 18 months and I've been really impressed by the attitude and potential of Scotland's rugby players.
"I'm now looking forward to developing that attitude and potential into winning performances."
Robinson takes over from Frank Hadden, who stepped down after two months ago after four years in charge, and will lead Scotland on a three-match tour of Romania, which begins next week.
Speaking about Robinson's appointment, Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive Gordon McKie said: "We are absolutely delighted that we have secured Andy Robinson as the new Head Coach for Scotland. Andy is an ambitious and highly committed coach and I am confident that he will bring success to Scotland.
"Andy has proved himself at every level of the game and we are thrilled that he will now be leading the Scotland team as we look towards the challenges of the next three years, including the 2011 World Cup.
"He has been part of the Scottish Rugby family for the past two years and has brought success both to Edinburgh Rugby, with their highest ever Magners League finish in successive seasons, and has also guided the Scotland A team to notable successes.
"Andy has a well established relationship with many of the Scotland players and has an understanding of professional rugby at the highest level."
The 45-year-old replaced Clive Woodward as the England head coach in 2004 but endured a torrid time at the helm overseeing 13 defeats in 22 games.
He went on to take over at Edinburgh and worked alongside Hadden during last summer's tour to Argentina.
