Margarito expects September return

Antonio Margarito expects to have his ban lifted shortly by the California State Athletic Commission and be back in the ring by September.

Margarito was banned after it was found to have plaster-like substance in his hand-wraps prior to his loss to Shane Mosley in January.

The Mexican, supported by his promoter Bob Arum, has pleaded that because it was not him putting the illegal substance on his hands, he should not be punished, and expects to be allowed to resume his career shortly.

"I have not stopped training because this month I will get my license given back to me by the California State Athletic Commission," Margarito told ESTO. "My lawyers are working on that now.

"I will reappear in September. In the coming week my company will let me know who will be my rival.

"I would like a 10-round fight and then next fight for a world title.

"I do not have a preference, but I want revenge against Mosley. I could also fight [Miguel] Cotto or Manny Pacquiao because Mexico would love a Mexican to defeat the Filipino and that will be Antonio Margarito."

Even Mosley said that Margarito should not be blamed because a fighter has nothing to do with what his trainer does..he said a fighter jsut puts his hands outthere and waits for them to be wrapped and for the fight to start..he would know better than you guys saying Margarito is a cheater and should be banned for life!

tom i have to and agree say cotto iknow everone will rabit on about pacmans speed but cottos not exactly slow and he keeps his hands high and we know what ever punisment he takes he can bloody well dish out and in front of 20,000 fans at madison square garden i fancey cotto but freddie roach said he would like the weigh in on the morning of the fight as he said that cotto looks like a middle weight in the ring mate i hope this fight happens i might even go and watch it tom.

Dave, Cotto sure did show great heart, he's just that type of fighter that never wants to quit, a great champion & seems willing to get in the ring with anyone. Certainly sounds like pacman is next at what weight i wonder. Manny doin a good job at bringing his power through the weights & is lightning fast but Cotto is a powerful welter & good at dealing with fast fighters like he did with judah & mosley. This would be an amazing fight that i just cant see going the distance, in who's favour i'm honestly not sure but gun to head i'd pick Cotto. What ya think youself? Whatever the outcome i think they should both fight Mayweather too & Pacquiao v Marquez 3

tom im not being a jobs worth mate i respect your comments but i don't agree with your comment on the hand wrap every thing else though mate fair enough ill take it. Clottery & Cotto both acussed Margarito of having his hand bandages loaded when he fought the pair of them you can read this in boxing news about 1 mounth ago. I agree tom margarito is no angel i would like to see him fight cotto again I BET YOU WOULD TOO.Didn't cotto show he's got great heart for the way he kept going against clottery do you think pac mans next what do you think the outcome will be mate all credit to cotto.

Dave, Cotto never accused Margarito of using illegal hand wraps, everyone just expects he did cause he was caught cheating in his next fight. Mosley didn't complain because Margarito was caught before their fight so Mosley wasn't being hit with loaded gloves. also Cotto's face looked so bad cause of huge cut caused by a headbutt which blinded him in 1 eye which he could have used to walk away with a TD after 4 rounds but fought on like a "true ring warrior". Fact is Margarito cheated, prob more than once, he put another professionals health at risk & he's the 1 looking for sympathy saying he was in the dark & knew nothing was wrong. He is a liar & a scumbag & should never fight again. If your a boxing fan then you should be looking for more Miguel Cotto's & no more Antonio Margacheato's

margarito is a true ring warrior cotto is using the hand wrap incident to get sympathy for his defeat you only have to look at the hamering he took against clottery to see that a human hand can mark up cotto pretty easisly the hand wrap incident was blown out of all proportion mosley never complained im sure he would agree with me. guys what do you think am i making sense or not i dont confess to know it all? im just a fan who enjoyes my sat nights watching the boxing shows from the us with a few beers & a curry.

i was just thinking the other day do you ever wonder why some fighters dont have there gloves took off at the end off the fight they keep them on and after seein the whole margarito ordeal im very paranoid about it

shame on you antonio!he was a legend of the ring in my eyes.what a heart.he knew it wasnt the norm to have stuff put on his wraps therefor guilty and should be banned for life.its hard enough trying to justify boxing is a safe sport without letting dispicable cheats away with it.peoples lifes are at risk here.CHEAT!BAN HIM!

he should be banned for life, im a former pro and you know how wrap feels on your hands. i think its terrible that he's allowed back after a act which could have endangered the life of sugar shane, the boxing world seems to show that if theres money to be made in it then you can do want u want, like tyson with the "ear bite" should have never been allowed in a ring again but the pounds and dollars run the sport . sickening.

An amazing fight, I would like to see another between these two warriors. Although cotto is my fav boxer, he was in trouble at times and when Clottey beat his chest and started smiling at Cotto, it reminded me of when he hit Margueritto with his hardest shot and didn't hurt him and it made me think here we go again!
