Haye targets both Klitschkos

by Gareth Maher , 10 June 2009

David Haye believes his legacy as the top heavyweight will not be fulfilled until he beats both of the Klitschko brothers.

The ambitious had been set to fight Wladimir Klitschko on June 20, which would have been live on Setanta Sports, but he has forced to pull out due to injury.

A niggling back complaint meant the 28-year-old could not risk getting into the ring with the current IBF/WBO champion as he knew that he wouldn't be at full strength.

He is not giving up on the fight though and hopes that it can be rescheduled for a future date. And once he has beaten Wladimir, Haye wants to then beat his brother, Vitali.

"I am here to become the heavyweight champion of the world. To do that I have to go after one of the two brothers," said Haye.

"He [Adam Booth] will do whatever he has to do to get me a fight with Wladimir or Vitali. The Klitschkos want it to happen. I want it to happen. It will happen.

"[The plan is] to beat both of the Klitschko brothers. I'm going to out there and beat both of the Klitschko brothers.

"I need to beat both of the brothers to cement my legacy."
