British Olympic bronze medallist Natasha Danvers will miss the upcoming European Team Championships due to a hamstring injury.
The 31-year-old, who won bronze in the 400 metres in last year’s Olympics, sustained the injury during Wednesday’s Super8 meeting in Cardiff, an event designed to boost attendances.
Danvers was expected to compete for Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the 100m and 400m hurdles in the Team Championships, on June 20 and 21, in Leiria, Portugal.
Danvers won the 100m during the Super8 event in Cardiff on Wednesday, with her London South team going on to claim victory.
The format is aimed squarely at entertainment value, with the intercity contest lasting two hours.
UK Athletics' chief executive Niels de Vos called the event a “successful experiment”, after around 2,500 spectators turned up to catch the action.
