Glasgow complete 2009/10 squad

by JP Lonergan , 16 June 2009 Lineen: Happy

Glasgow Warriors have completed their squad for next season with the additions of Hamish Mitchell and the re-signing of Colin Gregor.

Prop Mitchell, previously of Connacht and Saracens, joins from New Zealand rugby NPC side Taranaki, a year after he previously almost signed for Sean Lineen’s side.

Gregor, meanwhile, has extended his deal, while a squad of 35 is completed by former Edinburgh winger Dave McCall, who has joined up on a training contract.

"I am really pleased with the quality and depth in our squad,” Lineen was quoted as saying by The Glasgow Evening Times.

“There is competition in every position and if we improve each player we will improve as a squad and that's how the team will move forward.”

New addition Mitchell added: "I knew coach Sean Lineen had been looking to sign me last summer, but the timing wasn't right. Now I am here I am looking to make as big an impact as possible for Glasgow.

"Obviously I am bringing a fair bit of experience, having played for Taranaki in The NPC over in New Zealand and I've also played for Saracens in The Guinness Premiership so hopefully that can help me.

"But when a coach values your services like Sean has made it clear he values mine then that does make joining a side easy.

"There is tremendous competition for places and I am taking nothing for granted.”
