Lance Armstrong collected the Nevada City Classic title on Sunday, giving his preparations for next month’s Tour de France a decent boost.
The American lapped all but five of the field, the victory his first since his return to the sport.
Armstrong beat Astanta team-mate Levi Leipheimer and Bissell's Ben Jacques-Maynes to triumph in the one-day event around the Sierra Nevada foothills.
The 37-year-old was 12th overall in last month’s Giro D’Italia and will now turn his attention to Le Tour, an event he has won on no less than seven occasions.
