City in line for Uefa Cup place
by Chris Stanton, 09 May 2008
The Premier League will have an extra representative in next season’s Uefa Cup after England finished top in Uefa’s fair play ranking.
The four teams who head the fair play table in The Premier League have already qualified for European competition which means the next best side, currently Manchester City, will claim entry into next season’s Uefa Cup.
Fulham, who are not yet assured of their top-flight place for next season, are City's chief rivals for the fair play award.
Each team's fair play coefficient is calculated by The Premier League, with points gained for respect shown to referees and opponents and points deducted for yellow and red cards.

Another entrant means England could have four teams in next season’s Uefa Cup, although Welsh side Cardiff will have something to say about Portsmouth’s hopes of winning the FA Cup.
Carling Cup winners Tottenham and either Everton or Aston Villa, though the league, will also qualify.
