Lehmann could retire - Wenger
by Ben Blackmore, 13 May 2008
Arsene Wenger has revealed Jens Lehmann is contemplating hanging up his gloves at the end of the 2008 European Championships.
Lehmann has had to play second fiddle to Manuel Almunia all season, and to say the German has been dismayed by the situation is something of an understatement.
The Germany international has been widely linked with a move to Stuttgart in the summer to replace the erratic Raphael Schafer, a move that does interest Lehmann.
"Yes, if I choose to keep playing, then I can imagine playing for VfB (Stuttgart). VfB is an established name in the Bundesliga,” stated Lehmann.
However, Wenger has revealed the controversial gloveman is considering going out at the top – after Euro 2008.
"He has indicated to me that he will make a decision after the European Championships and he will certainly be influenced by the way it goes," said Wenger.
"He does not know if he will continue to play."
