Boro ace having Sporting medical
by Ben Blackmore, 13 May 2008
Middlesbrough midfielder Fabio Rochemback has flown to Lisbon on Tuesday for a medical ahead of his imminent move to Sporting.
The former Barcelona man will undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Portuguese giants.
Rochemback leaves Boro on a free transfer in order to rejoin the club from which he originally signed back in 2005.
"I am optmistic and I am happy for the chance to return to Lisbon,” said the Brazilian.
“I always was wanted to return to Sporting and this is my home."
Should Rochemback complete the deal, he leaves after scoring a wonderful free kick on his final appearance for Boro, a club for whom he represented in the 2006 Uefa Cup final.
