Celtic legend Tommy Burns has passed away after losing his battle with cancer.
Burns had been battling the illness for over two years and had an operation in 2006 to remove part of a lymph gland in his groin after being diagnosed with skin cancer.
The cancer returned in March this year and he passed away on Wednesday.
Burns leaves a wife, Rosemary who he had been married to for 28 years, and four children.
Born in Glasgow, he signed for Celtic in 1973 and made 352 league appearances, scoring 52 goals, and won 8 caps for Scotland.
He was a key figure in the Celtic side that won the league and cup Double in the club’s centenary season, 1988.
Burns managed Kilmarnock before taking charge of his beloved Celtic from 1994 to 1997.
A spell in England with Reading and with the national team followed before returning to Parkhead to work under Gordon Strachan.
