Things dont just happen in the media, the agent gets in touch with the papers and tells them wats happening so they can get more money for themselves and the player. I support man u and i want him 2 go and i disagree wit hansen i think fergie would be wrong after the way he is acting, he sould be no different 2 anyone else, if he can sell jaap stam prob the best def in the world at the time. he can sell ronaldo. I dont blame ronaldo for wanting 2 go. wats he going 2 do wit out rooney there 2 do all the donkey work, on the bright side united might see the best of rooney the one of euro 2004. if united are signing berbatov were are they going 2 fit him in the team with ronaldo there. ronaldo will stay this season, because he is out for the be out for 3 months, so the time the transfer window opens again, he will be cup tie for the chanpions league.

How many people here would turn down the offer of a job identical to the one they were doing, but with twice their current salary? I'm a huge United fan but I don't want someone playing for us who doesn't want to, he's acting the same way that Saha did when he wanted to join United and how Berbatov has apparently been acting throughout the summer, yet no-one is complaining about hiring those sulky 'guns for hire' are they? If he goes, I say good riddance, but lets stop with the double standards here.

CR7 wants to leave for three very good reasons,he has won everything that is to win in the EPL,to a more technical league that fit his style and gives him a chance to grow,warmer climate and sunny beaches and double his present pay,you would have to be a fool to refuse that offer.

Paddy, you don't see why its different than Keane, Van Nistelrooy or Beckham? Its well documented why those players left. The difference is Fergie didn't mind losing any of the above as their best part of their careers were behind them, he knew he could lose those 3. Ronaldo is only 23 and is the best player in the world. Thats the difference. There is a world of potential there for years and years to come. And lazyhorse, Fergie thought Jaap had lost a yard of pace and at that time, if Fergie was correct 16 million for a player he thought had his best days behind him was funny money. Accepting a huge offer for a player who's you think has had his best days behind him isn't acceptable? You're talking through you hole.

the Boss has never betrayed a player as far as i can remember.. he stood witht he likes of van Nistelrooy when he was injury proned, Saha when he was the same, Keane(even when the relationship was beginning to deteriorate), Beckham left because he wanted more money an believed he was bigger than Man U(he's a bitch as far as i'm concerned, its a good laugh to watch the American defenders push him around..lol)... need i say more......... Anytime a player believes he his bigger than the manager and the club for tht instance; the respect for the relationship has gone through the door!!

bollox if he wants to go he should be aloud happens to smaller clubs all the time why should man u be different? an i don't see why Ferguson is handing this situation any different from his former players (beckham, Keane, van Nistelrooy ) vintage Ferguson good manager but going on bout loyalty and betrayal he should cop on cos dat is everything he ain't

From Hansen "1 season wonder hell do nothing next year just like he did nothing in the euro 08!!!!!! " The man has been playing since March with an ankle that has required surgery!!!!1 And he still led Manchester United to EPL championship and champion league championship. You must be a Liverpool fan. I gree with the guy fom Nigeria, as much I would love for him to stay at Manchester United maybe he just wants a change. I mean has has dominated the league for two years now. For those who think he will do horrible in Spain or boo him in England if he doesn't leave think again. Your booing is like putting gas on a fire it is what gets him going so expect big things this year people.

From all the articles I've seen Ronaldo has never said that he is unhappy at Manchester United, rather that to play for Real Madrid is his dream. He hasn't agitated that hard for a move - the media has done that, making much much more out of the story than is really there. To say he needs to pay back Utd for their support is going too far - surely you could say that he has done that and more over the last two seasons. He might be arrogant, but I cannot see anything that indicates that he thinks that he is bigger than the club, in fact in his last proper interview (with ESPN) he was praising Alex Ferguson and his team mates and speaking with optimism of the upcoming season with Manchester United. Hansen knows nothing of what is really going on so why does he feel he can comment in this way. Finally, it doesn't appear to be about money - even David Gill has admitted as much. It seems to be more about playing for his dream team and having a new challenge.

As an Everton fan its hard to admit United are probably one of the best sides to watch, if not the best side to watch in the world at the end of last season.

I have to say a big compliment to MAN UTD for standing up to the potential betrayal of Ronaldo. I am really questioning the charactor and motivation of Ronaldo over his desire to move to supposedly the biggest club in the world, and that is a big suppose!!! There are a good half dozen clubs with as great a history as Real Madrid with Liverpool and Man Utd being among them. With the recent success Utd have had over all their rivals you have to put them at the top of the tree. So the question is why does Ronaldo want to move? MONEY!!!!!! It's all about the MONEY!!.

I'm a liverpool fan ane think we are lucky to have one of the best midfielders in the world be a boy hood scouser and liverpool fan whos happy plying for his boyhood team... Now... Although i dont condone Ronaldo what so ever in atitude or his apparent arogance .... i remember what he did to rooney!!! ... he has always stipulated it would be his dream to play for madrid his boyhood cub... so what if he's just signed a cotact it gives UTD to opprtunity to get as much euro as poss for his scrawney unappreciative greasy little ass.... a bit like o'niel with the barry saga.... Ronaldo is a whining poseur and a t**t. He is a good player but not a great player and until he earns those spurs he still has a lot to learn and there aren't many better than Ferguson to learn from. This is also a lesson to other clubs. When a player is playing badly or injured can they then say 'Nah I don't reaaly fancy paying his wages anymore' and bin him. This is a two way street and the implications are ominous. If his contract is broken by the courts or other means the floodgates will open for clubs to get rid of all their dead wood, troublemakers and the permanently injured.... Watch out......

Ronaldo is a mercenary! A gun for hire. He has no loyalty or honour. He'll go to whoever promises him the most. Sir Fergie has made him the player he is today and all Ron can do is turn around and kick him in the teeth for it. If he doesnt want to fall in line, let him rot. He can see out his contract to the last day by sitting on the bench or bugger off back to Portugal. See how much of a player he is after not playing competitve football for 4 years. See if Real want him then?
