Sink or swim time for The Punisher
by Ben Blackmore, 28 April 2008
Jason Lambert is eyeing “UFC 85: Hughes vs Alves” as his launch pad for a shot at the UFC light-heavyweight.
“The Punisher” takes on the dangerous Luiz Cane at London’s o2 Arena – exclusively live on Setanta Sports.

Lambert’s last outing in England ended in defeat when he was knocked out by Wilson Gouveia back in January, but he promised a very different scenario against Cane.
“I have not fought in London yet and I want to make a big splash at the O2 Arena,” he told Setanta Sports News.

“He (Cane) is a Brazilian and I am sure his ground game is good and I am sure it will be a good fight for the fans.
“He is a little taller than me, I am a little short for the division, but most of the guys are around the same weight.
“I am looking to bring that (experience) and push the pace like I always do and get him in deep water and see if he can swim with me.
"I am looking to win the fight in any way, either knocking him out or taking him down. I don’t think he will be able to stop me and I will take a win in any way."
Lambert will then use that victory to spearhead his assault on the light-heavyweight belt, predicting he will be fighting for the title by 2009.
“Every win is necessary. The division I am in, light-heavyweight, is the most stacked in UFC right now. There is a tremendous amount of talent, I see myself pushing through, maybe the beginning of 09 pushing for the title.
“It is going to be a huge card at “UFC 85”, I think there are 13 fights already. Usually there are eight or nine, so the fans are in for a huge treat.”
