Klitschko-Peter set for October

Vitali Klitschko and Samuel Peter have agreed in principle to fight for the WBC heavyweight title in October.

Peter (30-1, 23 KOs) previously lost to Vitali's brother Wladimir on an unanimous points decision in 2005, despite being dropped to the canvas on three occasions.

The 27-year-old Nigerian fighter's camp, who won the title by stopping Oleg Maskaev in eight rounds in March.

Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs) has not fought since stopping Danny Williams in 2004, but his manager Shelly Finkel insists he will be ready to return to the ring in the Autumn when they are expected to meet in Europe.

“I believe it’s going to happen, and I believe it’ll happen early October," Finkel said.

"Vitali will be in the best shape he can be and I believe and hope that’s enough. He is determined and working very, very hard to do that."

a bit of realism - 14 May 2008 10:52: Klitschko is a man mountain. just cause brit papers listen to talk more than punch doesnt mean in any way that haye would stand a chance in the same ring as either of the Klischko brothers. Haye has a big mouth, WOW, i dont care what he says. Klitschko will always have substance over style. and that gets the belts.; Report this to a moderator

Ali - 13 May 2008 18:39: I think Haye can make an impression on the Heavyweight division. 2 reasons for this, 1/ Haye has the power and quickness to succeed, and 2/ his technical flaws (that left couldn't be any lower) may be covered up due to the class in the division at the moment. Hopefully Haye doesn't rush into fighting Vladimir Klitschko because he is the only boxer right now who i could see haye losing to.; Report this to a moderator

scubasteve - 13 May 2008 12:21: i cant wait till haye somes into heavy weight, i relaly think he can make a difference and be exciting to watch. The haevys are so boring nowadays! i really trueklly hope that for the good of the sport and the division taht haye can come in and do a job, i believe he can but only time will tell, it may be that i just want him to so badly that my vision is getting obscured. i think when we see him at heavy weight again against someone half decent we will geta beter idea; Report this to a moderator
