Prendergast thrilled with Haatef

Kevin Prendergast is thrilled with Haatef ahead of his seasonal start at York on Wednesday.

The four-year-old is to run in the Duke Of York Hearthstead Homes Stakes, and will not be asked to tackle longer trips this term.

"He's a very smart colt, is in super form and I couldn't be happier with him," the Curragh handler told the Racing Post.

"He'll be running in six-furlong and seven-furlong races this season, but we might just try him in the Sussex Stakes, as the mile at Goodwood is easier than most."

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“I wish we didn't sell the guy. Phil is the definition of loyalty and I'm sure he'll end up with legendary status at your club as he did ours. There's not many players like that these days, and I'm glad he's playing an important part for another great side. Peace.”
