The 2008 Championship battle has taken a further twist in the aftermath of the Japanese Grand Prix with news that Felipe Massa has been awarded seventh place, and has moved to within five points of rival Lewis Hamilton.

The promotion is as a result of a 25-second penalty for Sebastien Bourdais, who finished sixth for Toro Rosso, as he collided with the Brazilian on lap 50, causing the Ferrari racer to spin off track.

The pair made contact at Turn 1 immediately after the French driver had emerged from pit lane, though both men did continue relatively unscathed.

Bourdais is now credited with tenth, with team-mate Vettel moving to sixth and Mark Webber getting a single point for eighth in the revised results.

If you take away all the points he has been given this season he would be way down the order with no chance of catching Lewis. Whatever happens in Brazil the fans know that Lewis Is the real WDC winner. Why no enquiry into 'Team orders' can only be because Ferrari drive under different rules to the rest. motorsport fan - 15 October 2008 18:48: Michael Schumacher was a cheat because he caused loads of accidents that were never racing incidents and was never penalised for this. As your claim that schumacher was the greatest driver, i think you need to take your ferrari tinted glasses off. There was only a hand full of fantastic drivers and schumacher was never a good driver. What about 1994 when the stewards went about trying to equalise things for Damon Hill. The only drivers that can drive for ferrari are cheats namely schumacher, raikkonen and massa. Why has Lewis Hamilton now got to justify his personality, when the worst offender is raikkonen because he hasn't got one at all! If he becomes WMC this season, fans will say he was given it on a plate and will have no respect for him. It is too late now to change that. damian rowland - 13 October 2008 01:16: this is an absolute travesty, if that had been hamilton hitting bourdais then hamilton would have been penalised, this sport is becoming a cororate joke, where did they want bourdais to go? drive into the wall, most of the other drivers came out of the pits and caused a 1st corner problem for another driver, this says to me that ferrari are running F1 now!! this was my favourite motorsport now its just the pits!!! i hope the officials incharge get to read some of these e-mails so they know that we are all on to the 'lets keep everyone interested until the last race' tactics by taking every opportunity to FIX the outcome of the race, these people are just looking for any excuse to penalise or promote as they see fit to kkep it close and keep interest until the final day, personnally as an F1 fan i would have watched all the races now i am not sure if i shall ever watch another.....yours and heading towards the touring cars door damian rowland......petition required i think!!!!!; Report this to a moderator

Marco - 12 October 2008 20:07: Lewis overtakes, hits nobody and gets a drive through. Massa T-bones his rival off the track, overtakes and knocks himself off and leaves the track completely to overtake in tne pit lane, for only a drive through! Bordais then gets penalised for Massa's error and Massa picks up another point over Lewis. All this just because Moseley hates Ron? Who ever you are, how ever good you are and what ever you have to offer the sport you will not win against this Triumvirate of correption. We saw it when Schumacher was there now we are seeing even more of it.
