Texas triumph for Johnson
by Dave Maher, 13 October 2008
Overnight leader Rory Sabbatini saw his dominance at the Texas Open ebb away as Zach Johnson secured victory on Sunday evening.
Sabbatini was two-over for the final day at La Cantera Golf Club, while Johnson’s six-under-par 64, thanks in large to some fine putting, was enough for him to take the win on 19-under for the tournament.

South Korea’s Charlie Wi shot a magnificent 61 on the final day in San Antonio but could only par the last two holes of his round to finish two shots behind the victor.
"I didn't look at the scoreboard until I got to the 15th hole. I knew Zach was close, but I was playing very good," Wi said afterwards.
"I was very happy to make those birdies on 15 and 16. I wish I could have made one more."
Wi tied for second place with Mark Wilson [63] and New Zealander Tom Wilkinson, with Jeff Overton a two shots adrift of the trio and Canada’s Stephen Ames a further two shots adrift, along with Chris Stroud.
South African Sabbatini completed the tournament on 12-under, alongside Pat Perez and Tim Heron.
Scotland’s Martin Laird finished up in a tie for 70th, having hit a two-over-par 72 on day four.
