Gallagher to take over Westmeath reins
by Brian Murphy, 13 October 2008
The Westmeath county board is expected to name Eamonn Gallagher as the Lakesiders’ new hurling manager on Monday night.
Westmeath officials have wasted little time in finding a successor to Johnny Dooley, who stepped aside last week after just one year at the helm.
Gallagher served as a selector under football manager Tomas O Flatharta for the last two years, but also has extensive managerial experience in the small ball code.
The St Brigid’s clubman guided Raharney to a Westmeath SHC title recently and also represented his county during the ‘80s.

Meanwhile, news of the new Meath football boss is also expected to emerge from the Royal County tonight, while Ger Loughnane’s future in Galway could also be decided.
